Why is money held on PayPal before my charging session?
Just like with all other payment methods, Cariqa places a temporary hold (pre-authorization) on your PayPal account to confirm that sufficient funds are available for the expected cost of your charging session.
This is not an actual charge, although PayPal may send you a payment confirmation email at the moment the hold is created.
The final payment is processed only after your charging session ends, based on your actual usage. Any unused portion of the pre-authorized amount will be automatically released back to your PayPal account.
For more details on how pre-authorization works, see the article:
Why do I see a PayPal confirmation email if no money has been charged yet?
PayPal may send a confirmation email when the temporary hold is placed.
This is standard PayPal behaviour and does not indicate that a payment has been completed.
You can check the real-time status of the temporary hold at any time in the PayPal app or in your PayPal account dashboard, where all active holds are displayed.
