Why do blocking fees apply?

Updated over a week ago

Blocking fees are set by charging point operators to promote fair use of charging stations. Each operator defines their own rules, and blocking fees can apply in different situations — for example after a defined duration or once charging has finished.

These fees help prevent long or unnecessary occupation of a charger so that stations remain available for everyone.

Does Cariqa charge blocking fees?

No. Cariqa does not charge any blocking fees.

We simply display and pass on the fees defined by the charging point operator. These include:

  • Energy tariffs

  • Blocking fees (if applicable)

  • Operator-defined service fees (if applicable)

👉 What you see in the app is exactly what you pay.

When do blocking fees apply?

Blocking fee rules vary by operator. They might be:

  • Applied from the start of the charging session

  • Applied after a defined duration (e.g., after 60 minutes)

  • Applied after charging is complete

Because policies differ between operators and stations, it’s important to check the full price breakdown in the app before starting your session.

How can I avoid blocking fees?

  • Review the operator’s pricing and rules in the price breakdown in the app

  • Monitor your charging session

  • Disconnect your vehicle when you no longer need the charger
