ChargeCard: Getting Started

What is the ChargeCard?

The ChargeCard is a physical card that works with RFID readers at charging stations across the Cariqa network.

Simply tap your card at any compatible station to start or stop a charging session.

Your card is linked directly to your Cariqa account and uses your default payment method for all transactions.

How do I order a card?

You can order your ChargeCard directly in the app.

Go to Home → Get your ChargeCard, tap Order now, and confirm your delivery address and payment method before ordering.

The card costs €4.99 as a one-time purchase. You'll receive an email confirmation once your card is on its way.

How do I activate my card?

When your card arrives, open the app and go to Home → Get your ChargeCard → Activate.

Enter the activation code printed on the back of the card, then choose whether to disable card security. Once your card is activated, it's linked to your account and ready to use.

How does card security work?

Your ChargeCard is locked by default, meaning it cannot be used to start a charging session without your approval.

To charge, unlock your card in the app. It will remain unlocked for 15 minutes, allowing you to start a charging session during that window. After 15 minutes, the card locks automatically.

You can adjust the unlock duration or disable the lock entirely in card settings, but we strongly recommend keeping it enabled to protect your account if your card is lost or stolen.

How do I start charging with my card?

  1. Unlock your card in the app (if card security is enabled).

  2. Tap the card at the charging station.

  3. Charging will start automatically.

To stop charging, unplug the cable or tap your card again at the station.

You'll receive a push notification showing the station name and current price when the session begins.

What if I forget to lock my card?

If card security is turned off, anyone with your card can start a charging session on your account. We recommend keeping card security enabled.

If you suspect misuse, you can lock or block your card immediately in the app under Profile → ChargeCard.

I lost my card. What should I do?

Go to Profile → ChargeCard → Report lost and confirm to block the card.

Once blocked, the card cannot be used to start any charging sessions. You can order a replacement card anytime from the same menu.
